Medical malpractice insurance
Medical malpractice insurance covers claims from patients who say they were harmed by a mistake in diagnosis, treatment or care, including legal defence costs and compensation. It suits doctors, dentists, nurses, paramedics, medical technicians, pharmacists and other healthcare professionals, as well as clinics, medical centres and hospitals in Qatar. We request offers from several insurers licensed by Qatar Central Bank, explain the right cover for each specialty, arrange the policy and follow up any claim with the insurer.

Frequently asked questions
My hospital has a policy. Do I need my own?
The hospital's policy may cover you only for work done there, and sometimes it covers only the facility. If you also work in private clinics or other facilities, an individual policy fills that gap.
What does claims-made mean for doctors?
Most malpractice policies cover claims made while the policy is active, for treatment given after the retroactive date. If you retire or leave Qatar, ask about run-off cover for claims that arrive later.
Are cosmetic procedures covered?
Only if you declare them and the insurer accepts them. Tell us every procedure you perform so the offers match your actual practice.
What should I do if a patient complains?
Tell us as soon as possible and keep the medical records as they are. Do not admit liability or agree to any payment without the insurer's consent, as this can affect the claim.
