Electronic equipment insurance
Electronic equipment insurance covers computers, servers, telecommunication equipment, medical and office electronics, film and TV studio equipment and electronic boards against sudden and unforeseen physical damage, such as short circuits, power surges, fire, water and theft. It suits offices, clinics, laboratories, server rooms and studios in Qatar that rely on costly equipment. We request offers from several insurers licensed by Qatar Central Bank, explain options such as data restoration and extra costs, arrange the policy and follow up your claim with the insurer.
In QatarQatar's summer heat is hard on servers, so keep cooling and surge protection maintained, as policies usually require reasonable care and upkeep.

Frequently asked questions
Is a laptop I take home or abroad covered?
Portable devices can be covered outside your premises, and some policies extend to trips abroad. Tell us where the devices are used so we ask for the right territory.
How do I set the sum insured?
Insure each item for what a new equivalent costs today, not its book value. Insuring for less can reduce the claim payment, so keep an updated equipment list with serial numbers.
Is data restoration the same as cyber insurance?
No. Data restoration pays to reinstall and recover data after physical damage to the insured equipment. Hacking, ransomware and liability for data leaks need a separate cyber policy.
Is my equipment covered while it is under warranty?
Faults covered by the supplier's warranty or a maintenance contract are usually excluded, but accidental damage, fire, water and theft usually stay covered under the policy terms. We explain how the policy works alongside your maintenance contracts.
