Sport insurance

Sport insurance pays agreed benefits if you have an accident while training or competing, and can also cover sports equipment and tournaments. It suits amateur athletes, coaches, clubs, academies, company teams and event organisers in Qatar. We request offers from several insurers licensed by Qatar Central Bank, explain what each policy covers and follow up claims with the insurer.

In QatarTreatment is usually paid by your health insurance, which employers must provide for expatriate staff under Law No. 22 of 2021; sport cover adds fixed cash benefits for accidental death or disability.

  • Cover for individuals, teams, clubs and tournaments
  • Protection during training and official matches
  • Offers from several licensed insurers, clearly explained

Frequently asked questions

I play football in an amateur league. Is this for me?

Yes. Individual or team cover is available for amateur players, and the insurer pays set amounts if an accident while playing or training causes injury, disability or death (policy dependent). We check with you that the policy names football and covers both matches and training.

Doesn't my health insurance already cover sports injuries?

Health insurance usually pays for treatment, but some plans limit or exclude certain sports. Sport accident cover adds cash benefits that health insurance does not pay, and we review with you how the two policies work together.

Can our club insure all players under one policy?

Yes. A group policy can cover registered players, coaches and staff for the season, with club liability as an option. Send us the number of members and the sports played, and we will request offers.

Can I insure my bicycle or golf clubs?

Sports equipment such as bicycles, golf clubs and diving gear can be added to some policies against theft and accidental damage (policy dependent), and a home policy may also cover it if it includes personal belongings outside the home. Give its value in QAR when you ask for offers.
